Kathy and Joyce - Thank you so much for the Tree of Life remembrance you obtained for my father. I received a very nice letter from the Deborah Foundation and a gold leaf which I will be giving to my mother later today. Deborah always took good care of him following his stroke. In fact, I remember when he first came home following the stroke, Dr. Headley was not monitoring his PT like he should have been and was not contacting my mother about his Coumadin adjustment. I called him to give him hell and here my dad's PT was 29!! He could have had a stroke from a bleed instead of a clot. It was in the evening and Headley made some wisecrack about how he would see me in the emergency room at Virtua. I told him I would never let him see my father again. I called over to Deborah and Dr. Bender told me to bring him right over. Even though they didn't have a bed available for him, they put him on a bed in a supply closet and hooked him up to a vitamin K infusion to normalize the PT. My mother, sister and I sat in the closet for several hours with my dad while nurses came and went getting supplies. When he was stable later that night, we were able to bring him home. That was when Dr. Bender hooked him up with Dr. Kini and Deborah took care of him for the next 13 years.

I cannot say enough about the care he received just prior to his passing, from Medical Records having his chart ready when we walked in the door (I had spoken to Rosie before we came over), to the registration and outpatient department, triage area and MICU care that he received. All the doctors, nurses, techs and staff were wonderful and treated my father and family with nothing but the best of care and respect. His nurses and doctors from previous days would stop in to see how he was, even though he wasn't their patient that day. Many of them cried with us and apologized for being unprofessional. Deborah truly is a VERY SPECIAL place.

Again, I thank you for your remembrance and for attending my father's services. It was a great comfort to my family to see the faces of all those who came to pay their respect.

Johanna
